The Sr. Production Control Analyst has responsibility for any/all areas of production control. The Senior Analyst manages the scheduling and control of batch processing, and is responsible for managing and verifying the schedule databases and daily job schedules via approved batch scheduling tools. The Senior Analyst controls the application migration process and ensures that change control and security compliance policies and procedures are followed.
Responsibilities:
- Provides incident, problem management and production support for a 24 X 7 X 365 data center. Analyzes and resolves basic to moderately complex production, application, and systems problems to ensure that service level agreements are met. Monitors ticket queues to ensure changes and production environment service requests are properly prioritized and worked according to priority. Provides off hours on call support as needed. Analyzes problem areas for root cause and future avoidance.
- Administers the automated job schedulers for multi-platform operations. Maintains the scheduling databases and infrastructure and assists with upgrades as necessary. Coordinates the setup of appropriate scheduling applications and operator instructions relevant to the processing platforms. Verifies the daily job schedules and understands the critical job dependencies and business cycles in detail. Knows the urgency and is able to prioritize the key schedule requirements needed to support the business.
- Coordinates and executes the application migration processes through non-Production and Production environments according to change control policies and procedures. Ensures that complete and compliant documentation and approval processes are performed for all controlled changes. Works with Application Development teams to develop, implement, and control high quality batch applications for internal and external customers. Coordinates and assists with business startups ensuring that established timelines are met.
- Reviews Job Control Language (JCL) for appropriate syntax and to confirm that it conforms to standards. Perform JCL modifications as needed. Provides JCL expertise and problem-solving assistance for Developers and IS Operations personnel.
- Works with IS teams to ensure change documentation is per standards as well as assists with preparing and coordinating the CAB process. Provides guidance and answers questions regarding Change Control procedures, documentation requirements, and compliance.
- Provides support for recovery activities in production including planned outages and upgrades. Participates in disaster recovery planning and testing.
- Strives to learn the job functions of the position’s immediate superior as well as peer level positions with whom the individual interacts. It is the responsibility of the individual to be prepared for temporary re-assignment and/or providing work coverage due to extended illness, personal emergency or business necessity.
- Assists the Manager of Production Services in the training and development of the production control analyst and production control analyst associate positions.
Qualifications:
- High School; BS or BA degree in computer science, business administration, or related field is preferred.
- 2 years as a Production Control Analyst or related field.
- Knowledge of the Unix and Z/OS mainframe operating systems. Advanced knowledge of job control language and related utilities. Familiarity with automated job scheduling systems.
- Attention to detail. Ability to maintain calm and think rationally while working to solve problems in high stress situations.
- Must be available to work flexible hours (evenings, early mornings, and weekends) regularly to support production changes.
