Fresno is California’s fifth largest city and the economic hub of the state’s Central Valley region. It takes its name from the Spanish word for “ash tree” and is a gateway for both Yosemite National Park and the famed Sequoia National Forest.
The city is a melting pot of cultures, mixing white, Hispanic, Asian and African American cultures with immigrants from Armenia and other Eastern European nations. With so much diversity, Fresno offers many opportunities for recreation and entertainment. For art lovers, there are museums, galleries and a lively theatre scene.
